Live Love Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale is an amazing place for travelers who want to have fun, relax, or seek adventure. The city has everything from stunning beaches to delicious food and exciting nightlife. Exploring museums, galleries, and shops can fill your day, and food enthusiasts can enjoy diverse dining options ranging from fresh seafood to classic American fare. For adventure seekers, Fort Lauderdale is a great spot to launch a cruise. The city has one of the busiest ports that can take you to various destinations in the Caribbean and beyond.

Hey there! Have you checked out La Vie Mediterranean Fare? Their food is seriously amazing and complete with a belly dancing show!

If you are visiting the Fort Lauderdale area for a few days before your cruise, there are several great beaches to check out. Lauderdale by the Sea is a charming, laid-back beach town with a long pier and excellent snorkeling opportunities. Pompano Beach is a family-friendly beach with plenty of amenities, including a playground and picnic tables. Fort Lauderdale Beach is a popular tourist destination with soft white sand and plenty of beachfront hotels, restaurants, and bars.

If you are looking to explore beyond the beach, consider visiting the Bonnet House Museum and Gardens, a beautifully preserved 1920s era mansion with lush gardens and unique artwork.  For a relaxing day, head to the Butterfly World, the largest butterfly park in the world, to see hundreds of species of butterflies and birds.

We enjoy visiting great restaurants and sharing positive reviews. Recently, we revisited Runway 84, but unfortunately, we did not enjoy our experience as we did before. The food had been incredible, so much so that we had to come back. That was prior to their renovations a few years ago, and upon returning, the food was just wasn’t the same. I’ve had better caesar salads and our seafood was overcooked We dined in a room with a large TV showing a football and the other room had live music. Something was just lost in the old world Italian/Sinatra vibe.  It is disappointing to see once great establishment change so much.

We enjoyed Fort Lauderdale for four days. It is now time for a three-day cruise on Margaritaville at Sea to Freeport, Bahamas.

While it’s wonderful that we were able to enjoy lunch on the Port Lucaya Beach, it’s unfortunate that the impact of Hurricane Dorian is still being felt in Freeport. Many local businesses, including restaurants and hotels, remain closed and the community is still in the process of recovery. The devastation caused by the hurricane was significant, leaving many residents without homes and basic necessities. It’s important to continue to support the rebuilding efforts in Freeport and other areas affected by natural disasters. By contributing to relief efforts, volunteering your time, or simply being mindful of the impact these events have on communities, you can help make a difference and provide hope for those affected.

Margaritaville is a small cruise line that aims to provide a cozy and intimate experience. The ship is well kept, and the staff is friendly and willing to help. There are great evening performances that are sure to impress, but the food might disappoint as the choices are limited, and the taste could be better. Unfortunately, due to the lack of good food, we would not want to book another trip with Margaritaville.

Before our flight home, we stayed another day and night in Ft. Lauderdale. Our boutique hotel was a block from the beach and we discovered a gem of a restaurant at the end of our street. Casablanca Cafe is summed up in this video……
