Las Vegas

They say, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas”. So, yes…. we enjoyed a few things that will forever stay with us in Vegas, as it should be! This was my first trip, (but not Bob’s) and it was everything I expected it to be with extravagance, opulence and of course the clothing that I probably won’t wear anywhere else or maybe I will.

The weather was perfect, not too hot – not too cold. We ate, gambled and took in two shows. For many years, Bob traveled to Vegas regularly for work, but never for pure pleasure, until now. He was able to take in shows, stay up late and sleep in.

Our room at Bally’s overlooked the Bellagio Fountains, so it was truly magical……and romantic.

…….Then, there is the food…..!

Lawry's for a special dinner

What would Vegas be without the incredible food scene! Fortunately for me, Bob had been to Las Vegas for many years and he knew where to take me! First up was Lawry’s Steak House. Delicious prime rib brought to us in a covered cart. The food was cut and served at our table.

We can’t visit a city of any size without checking out the art scene. Las Vegas is no exception! There are several museums to chose from. You are sure to find one that fits your art genre.

Who doesn’t gamble when in Vegas! From Roulette to Blackjack to Slots – even after buying items, we came home with almost the same amount of cash that we brought with us!

Of course we gambled in Vegas!
What a treasure in Vegas!
A fine Italian treasure!

One of our favorite meals was at Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant. Bob frequented this establishment over the years when dining with clients. We were not disappointed! The atmosphere is romantic and the staff extremely gracious. We were served a world class dinner.

The wine list is exhaustive and quite impressive!

There were so many dishes that were just right for our palettes. Our waiter was helpful and made suggestions for us. Just perfect!

After dinner, as we enjoyed our drinks, Bob asked our waiter if Gino Ferraro was available. Bob remembered him from days past and had not seen him in years. Gino was kind enough to speak to us and brought us a delcious trio of desserts served with coffee. What a perfect ending to a spectacular meal!

But, the evening wasn’t over yet! Gino allowed us to tour the restaurant, kitchens (which I love) and the well stocked wine cellar, complete with an $8,000 bottle of Italian wine!

We took in two shows since Las Vegas shows are world renowned! KA’ was dramatic and spell-binding! We sat on the first row so the actors were right in front of us! While that was exciting enough, if we ever see KA’ again, we would move a few rows back to get the entire scope of the stage! Highly recommended!

For our second show, we laughed so hard during Absinthe that our faces hurt! It was musical, hysterical, raw, politically incorrect and entirely for adults! We had VIP tickets, which we highly recommend unless you don’t like to be called out and picked on! A must see!

Nevada – where weed, pot, dope, grass, reefer, herb, and Mary Jane is legal, so a quick trip to Planet 13 was something we had to see. Police officers directed traffic and the staff and store reminded me of an Apple store! It was quite an experience with samples for all and more products choices than we could have imagined! All we have to say about that is ‘what happens in Vegas….stays in Vegas’. 😉

Sterling Brunch Buffet is a must!!! And you MUST make reservations before you get to Vegas! The buffet is only served on Sunday at Bally’s.

The Champagne is endless (we also poured in orange juice for Mimosa’s), our waiter made sure we wanted for nothing! It’s not the largest buffet I’ve ever been too, but it certainly was the most delicious! As you can see by my first plate, I chose just a little of a few items to see what I would like – well, I liked it all from the beef, lamb, seafood which included caviar and sushi. Sake’ was also served.

Was it worth the almost $300 including tip? YES! I highly recommend it!

Right outside of Bally’s is a food and shopping area– and we stumbled upon a Thai restaurant (and sadly, I can’t remember the name) but it was right up there with the best Pho I’ve ever eaten! The pork broth was rich and fragrant. I ate every bite!

So, until next time, travel with purpose, drink and taste deeply and play with childlike zeal.

P.S.  We got married in Vegas. It was private and quiet. We didn’t tell anyone…..what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
